Engaging patients from the start.
Pharos Innovations was founded in 1996 by Dr. Randall Williams, a Johns Hopkins trained physician, with the belief that engaging patients in their daily self-care is the optimal path to reducing medical cost. Soon after, we developed Tel-Assurance®, our real-time patient engagement and remote monitoring technology platform. Tel-Assurance drives daily behavior change and provides early warning of impending care problems, helping providers efficiently and cost-effectively manage their “at risk” populations.
From 1996-2004, we undertook extensive clinical validation testing and refinement of the Tel-Assurance platform, adding multiple condition modules, population risk screeners, reporting and analytics capabilities, as well as refining the system’s algorithms. In addition, we assisted clients with care model design, analytically driven population targeting, care coordinator workflow optimization, and large scale population onboarding into targeted population management interventions leveraging our extensive analytic and clinical design expertise.
Since our commercial launch in 2004, we have continued to develop, refine, improve and validate the impact of Tel-Assurance. We help care for populations covered by Medicare, Medicaid, the Veteran’s Administration, and commercial payers. Over the past decade, we have successfully implemented Tel-Assurance in several large scale clinical trials, market-wide payer initiatives and CMS demonstrations.
With many large scale and multi-site implementations under our belt, we understand the complexities of a broad range of organizational models. We’ve refined our approaches to implementation, including population targeting, clinical intervention design and care manager workflow optimization. Our programs continually deliver meaningful results, impacting the health and wellbeing of patients (and the bottom line of our clients).
The reason for our name.
One of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Pharos Lighthouse stood for more than 1,500 years in the harbor of Alexandria, Egypt. In this bustling commercial port, the towering structure served as an unmistakable beacon guiding ships safely to shore. Today, there is a lighthouse at the edge of nearly every large body of water around the globe and “pharos” has come to mean “lighthouse” in many languages.
We chose Pharos as our name because we serve as a beacon in the midst of a challenged healthcare system. We watch over our clients and their patients, guiding them toward improved care, health outcomes and financial performance. Like the lighthouse that inspired our name, our technologies are elegantly simple, straightforward, universal and effective. We are proud to light the way and show the world the transformative power of patient engagement.
